BREW High-stakes Pitch Competition 2019


As part of BREW 2019, we’re hosting a one-of-a-kind pitch competition experience. We’ve held pitch competitions before, but this one’s different in one key way: there’s $100,000 worth of investment dollars on the line.

Applications due by September 23

the executive summary

Every applicant will need to furnish a 2-page executive summary on their business. This is table-stakes — make it count. Hit the link below to find out what needs to be included:



Every applicant needs to meet a set of baseline qualifications in order to be considered. The qualifications you need to have before submitting are listed below:

  • Louisiana-based business, or willingness to relocate

  • Less than $250k in annual revenue as of 12/31/2018

  • Less than $250k in investment funds raised (beyond founder, family, and friends investments) as of 12/31/2018

  • Incorporated business (LLC, S Corp, C Corp)

  • Investable business model with strong founding team

Awards, investment and participation are subject to judges input and the due diligence process.

Companies that have previously pitched for PitchBR are eligible to participate.

timeline & process

In order to have everything in place before the final pitch at BREW 2019, the competition will follow a specific timeline and will be segmented into a few distinct phases. The exact timeline is listed below:

Executive Summary Due September 23 (must use specified format, available here)

Notification to Semi-Finalists on September 27

  • Upon selection and notification, Semi-Finalists then submit

    • Business plan (up to 10 pages) for review and comment by semi-finalists judges

    • Media materials (logo, headshots, one page overview for printing in pitch program)

Closed door Semi-Final Pitches (semi-finalists only) on October 24 at the Louisiana Technology Park

  • 10- minute pitch, 20 minute Q&A in private session with panel of judges who are accredited investors

Top four finalists proceed to final pitch

  • Finalists will receive coaching and mentorship

  • Business plans to be sent to final round judges (can send in updated plan, otherwise current plan will be sent)

  • Finalist teams instructed to send in due diligence documents

Final pitch at BREW 2019

  • Friday, November 15 @ 5pm at the Lyceum

  • Criteria to select top prize: most investable, according to expert opinions of finalist judges

The $100,000 of investment being offered as a prize to the winning company comes from a group of accredited, local, Louisiana-based investors.
